But D'Souza's erudition is vast, his examples often compelling, and his sheer willingness to take on the weight of the current politically correct, self-absorbed liberal mentality is refreshing. I found his description of the liberal control of Hollywood, the media, and academia at first to be a fanciful argument, but the more I thought about it the more I realized that's why liberals don't have to win an election to sway the public dialogue. No matter what your politics or beliefs, I find D'Souza an important source for mental exercise and equilibrium. Unless, of course, like so many university students and professors, you believe that you shouldn't read or hear anything which disagrees with your own point of view.
Mr. D'Souza has done a masterful job of explaining how the political left has twisted reality--but what really is great about this book is how he uses so many sources to convincingly back up his assertions. First off, I have to say that I found the topic both deeply disturbing and oddly satisfying. I've grown up and spent much of my life in liberal ground zero in the US - the San Francisco Bay Area. I have seen so many odd things about progressives over the years that make no sense at all. And I'd forgotten about one conversation I had as an undergraduate student until I read this book. One of my political science professors pointed out that the Nazi party was a right wing creation. I raised my hand and asked how this could be the case if they identified themselves as socialists. My professor shut down the conversation by telling me I hadn't paid close enough attention to the reading and refused to discuss it further. Now, thirty years later, that conversation finally makes sense.This text is full of references and specifics. And the fact pattern hangs together very well - something you usually don't see in whacko conspiracy stuff. And it explains a lot about recent political developments. But I'm the most pleased with how the author ends the text. He gives specific recommendations for action.This is a scary, great read.
Whoa! I knew some of the facts presented in Dinesh's book, but I was amazed at the connections and relationships between Fascism and the American Left. America has always had groups that supported authoritarian governments (Remember the Tories?), and their opposition tactics haven't always been too admirable (such as the witch hunts for Communists in the 1950s). I also knew that the Anti-Fascists were actually Fascists in disguise, but I had no idea just how insidious the support for Fascism is in modern America.I sincerely don't understand why anyone supports Fascism over Liberty,, unless you are member of the elite ruling class. Fascism, Communism, and Socialism all sound great in theory, but they all go totally against human nature, and in practice they all are hugely destructive to everyone except those that wield the power. There may be no Heaven on Earth, but under those regimes, life is certainly hell for some of their citizens, and not much better for the rest.This book is an important read... especially for those who are confused about what is going on in politics. Knowledge is POWER, but sadly I think that the people who really need to read this book won't. Too many people just don't read anymore. Perhaps Dinesh can create a graphic novel edition and sell it in the comic book section.
Another amazing history book from Dinesh! A must read for EVERYONE, though we know those who need to read it most, aren't likely to do so. Best to remain ignorant and delusional.I never realized the not only the correlation between the Democrats and the Nazis, but more importantly, the timeline. I found it very interesting that Hitler got many of his ideas from the American Left.Dinesh' books should be required reading in High School, before the kids get too thoroughly brainwashed.
Truth is supreme-you can follow this beautifully -wonderful- should be passed out to all our Congress and Senate+the college students whofind it hard to deal with facts.
Haven't made it through the whole book yet but so far it is very well written, easy to read and keeps you interested.This book at the very least exposes the left's obvious deflection of the facts and historical truths. Regarding current use of inflammatory labeling it exposes the intent of misleading the masses and makes it clear that this is intentional and organized.Mr D'Souza has obviously done his research. He backs up his assertions throughout the book with quotes from his sources.He has my vote for making the movie for this book.
